All I can do is laugh

Yesterday I told a girl to "Holler if Ryan's outside" (she was going out to her car and Ryan had my car for the day)
She said "what do you want me to yell at him?"
I said "NO. holler at me"
"What do you want me to say?" she replies.
I'm thinking, Wow!, are you kidding me?!
I said "just let me know if he's out there" with slight exasperation clearly noticeable in my voice. It was the end of the work day and I just wanted to go home!!
"Oohhhhh ok. I didn't know what you meant. I thought you wanted me to yell something at him" she says.
I sighed and shook my head.

On one hand I laugh daily (with her) at the things she says/does. Sometimes it's truly amazing what comes out of her mouth but then I stop to remind myself of everything she's been through - where she has come from - the marriage, the kids, the extra-curriculars, the brokeness... I won't go into it here as this is a public place and they're her secrets. Let's just say that she has picked herself up, dusted herself off and while pieces of her life seems to be falling all around her - she continues to move forward with her head up. In that aspect she is an inspiration of sorts.
