journalspace numbers

I would love to see how bloggers' numbers rose within the last week or two with all the displaced JournalSpace peepsies making their home (whether permanent or temporary) here.

There's a lot of talk around the net bashing JS and it's people and of course those of us who didn't back up. I don't know that we deserved to lose all our stuff b/c we didn't back up as some have said but it certainly seems like a lot of us didn't learn our lesson from the prior crash. Myself included. I think I'm more agitated that my layouts weren't backed up (my fault). I had pro access and used the RSS feed and had my blog linked to another so luckily mine is "saved" unless that one goes belly up too. I really should back that up. *shakes head*

There have been moments where I think "wow. 5 years online and what do I have to show for it...." but hey, no use in crying over spilled milk now is there?! I don't know.... my journal wasn't very deep or thought provoking - it was just my daily life which means MTV won't be knocking on my door begging to do a reality series about me. I'm to normal, to boring, to sane.

Isn't there a saying "one thing we learn from history is that we don't learn from history"

I have mine backed for the most part. Other parts are still a work in progress.

I will say that the folks talking about our little space are simply jealous of the community we had that they never did.

the community was and remains the heart and soul of Jayess.

Hi Forest Good to see you posting here. Glad the JS community is keeping tack of each other here.

I deleted stuff all time so I wasn't sentimental about any of my stuff..All my stories and poems are also in MS Word and some on my website so I have back-ups of that kind of stuff.

bobby: yea the community thing was a big part of JS. I find that having JS down that I've talked to people that I didn't talk to on JS not for any reason but just that I didn't know them on JS and now they're here and we're all just trying to find each other.

PL: you too, Are you going to be posting your pictures of digs? I miss them.

cawfee: (don't you love how I keep calling you cawfee and not Christine?) yea I wasn't so much attached to my stuff as some of the people. There is one post that I'd love to have but can't find. *sigh* it must be from before I had pro access.

"What do I have to show for 5 years online?" Well, just look at you--your friends that you made whilst at JS! We're followers, lurkers, stalkers. And possibly we like you ;)

Don't worry, MTV won't be knocking on my door either!! The bovine may think I'm glamorous but humans not so much!

Who the heck is bad-mouthing us? We'll send Tristam to go talk to them.....

As Shannon said, what really matters is that we have friendships from JS that don't need backed up (I hope). I'm just thankful for Dorrie's shelter until we found a new home.

I had written a few posts that I really loved and wish I had saved. In fact all last fall I kept considering it then just didn't get around to it. C'est la vie. I'll know better from now on.

And of course there are those of us who kept up elsewhere, for which I am truly thankful!

soiled: sorry I meant my posts/layouts. I never meant I didn't have all of you! :) That's why I decided to continue, I honestly wasn't going to open another blog but I missed so many people

yacky: google JournalSpace and then read the comments on some of the articles/blogs. It can be very entertaining to say the least.

stella: yea I'm glad we were in touch outside of JS.

Did you know JS is for sale on E-bay? Check My Blog for the address on a post if you're curious. Good to see another JS'er

funny...nothing I post has any permanence with me...if I lose it, I go on. In fact, I never go back and look at old posts. It seems so...yesterday.

anneal: yea I saw that. It was up to $2500 when I saw it.

burstmode: I've always loved your pictures though, I'm sure you have them saved on your computer.

I echo Bobby's sentiment.

TBH, I wasn't all that sad over losing my journal; I'd become much more circumspect the past year, so that might be partly why. I know I backed it up at some point, but I forget when, haven't even checked to see how much I have on my hard drive. It's the JS site (and community) I miss most.

I only miss one pic that I had of Bill and I when we first fell in love. That and the homepage!

lunamor: I miss how easy it was to connect with people and reading the hilarious comments on the homepage. I suppose since blogger is much bigger it'd be harder to do that but a homepage like JournalSpace would make it better :)

kate: that's a bummer. luckily I have all my pictures on my computer although i don't exactly know where :) and yes I think it's safe to say the one thing we all miss is the homepage.
