Speaking of my sister....
So I was at the local grocery store Monday night after Turbo Kick - you know to buy healthy food. New year, new food, new blah blah blah. So I'm standing in line a little agitated b/c there is only 1 cashier and I'm like 5th in line. I understand it's a Monday night and that it's 8:30 and they close at 10pm. I know Mon nights are slow I used to be a cashier at this particular store - but it makes me grrrr! mad when I have to wait in such a long aisle while the service center chicks are standing there giggling.
Anyways, that's a side note. So I'm standing there counting to 100 and half trying to read the magazine covers and the lady in front of me turns around and says
"what's your name?"
I think I gave her a very quizzical um....why? look
"you're from ****** high school, you played volleyball"
ahhhh I thought while nodding my head, I'm Sarah
"yea you played volleyball with Carrie"
I'm thinking to myself Carrie. Carrie. Carrie. I don't remember a Carrie and I'm not placing these people's faces either. They looked like nice people though.
how's she doing?
"oh, she's due in 8 weeks"
oh really! congratulations. Who did she marry, I forget?
"R. K."
Ohhhh, how's he doing, I haven't seen him in forever?
*I'm still not placing Carrie but I know RK b/c he was 2 years ahead of me and I semi dated one of his friends*
then I said you have another one right? *totally guessing on this*
"yea Sydney, she's 10"
ok, now I'm thrown all off, she has a daughter who played volleyball with me and a 10 year old too????
I think she saw my confusion and said "she's Jamies'"
ohhhhh, how is Jamie *still not knowing who these people are*
"good. married. lives out on *****ville Ridge"
Then it hit me, she thinks I'm Betsy, my younger sister who a lot people say we resemble each which back in time we did but not so much anymore.
And if I remember correctly, I think Carrie is Betsy's age (Betsy played v-ball, I think) and Jamie is Sally's age.
So Carrie was like 5 years behind me in school and Jamie was 3 so while I vaguely remember Carrie, I do remember Jamie. I thought it was funny that she obviously thought I was my much younger sister.
I did have to apologize for my looks *and probably smell*, after doing turbo for an hour I am not at my prettiest. It made me giggle b/c if she thought I was Betsy and I looked all sweaty and sans make-up then I wonder how she thought Betsy looked backed then ;) (I'm kidding sis!)

is it a story about me? i'm kind of scared now.
i got to paste in. It's not a bad story, kinda funny in a "you had to be there" sort of way.
I never have that happen to me honestly...
I'll bet you had the sense of mental illness by not remembering any of this stuf..
Too funny!!!
Bobby
Um, what's semi-date? :D
bobby: I really thought I was going crazy for a minute
soiled: lol! well as a freshman I only half dated him b/c really how much can a 9th grader date. We were in band together, he played sax and I played french horn so we sat by each other... football games, school functions you know - but never dinner and a movie or anything. In fact, I never even kissed him but I've always thought he was cute. He was the brother of my best friend at the time.
Poor Betsy ;) hehehe
Honestly, you guys are all beautiful!!!
oh Jess! have you read Steve's post on facebook about pictures? well I don't exactly post the ugly ones of me. Seriously if saw me how I "normally" look you'd laugh - especially after doing Turbo Kick for an hour.
Thankfully, I look nothing like my sister so I don't get that! The only strange thing that happens to me on a regular basis is people "know" I'm my brothers younger sister, because we look "So much alike" and it's "obvious" and how we both look exactly like my dad. And I just want to laugh at them because he's a step-brother and my step-father. But I never say anything otherwise, no point.
I once had a half-hour conversation with a girl at Target before I realized I wasn't talking to the person I thought I was talking to... I was actually talking to her (identical) twin sister.
That's so frustrating when someone knows me, but I can't remember them. At least you figured it out. Funny story! lol. Hugs.
lol. I get the "you look so much like your mom" a lot. I don't see it. Kinda funny that she went on and on though...
I'm smiling at Morphine's comment. Sometimes people seee what they want to see. I had friends who adopted a baby and when they visited the churches they grew up in everyone in the dad's old church said how much the baby looked like him. Same thing in the mom's old church.
Sounds like you handled the whole thing well - evenafter an hour of turbokick.
I was trying to figure out how there were two forests. After reading your entries, it makes sense now.
Hope your day's a good one!
morphine: Sally and Jason look alike and me, John and Betsy look alike. That's hilarious that people think you and your steps look alike!
ginger: oh twins are the worst. lol! I used to say hi to this lady all the time only to find out it was her twin sister. I could never figure out why she always acted like she never knew me.
It's funny how twins look so much alike but if you date one or are really good friends with one they look nothing alike.
xanadu: yes very frustrating! even worse if you remember them 5 min after they walk away. it's like "oh wait, you think I'm my sister..."
silver: i get the mom thing too. As for her going on and on, I can see how she thought I was Betsy. I did mention Betsy in the course of our conversation and I bet once I mentioned her name she had an "a-ha" moment and felt as strange as I did not placing her. ha!
inneed: I'm glad you found me :)
I know what you mean about the adopting thing. My friends brother and his wife adopted their son and he really does resemble them so I guess we do see what we want to see.
